GIVING & GENEROSITY

Thank you for considering giving to First Baptist Durango. We recognize that, for many, practicing financial generosity through a local church may feel unfamiliar or even difficult. Whether because of financial mishandling by other churches or ministries, or simply because you’re new to church, we understand that giving is a big deal.

As a church, we are committed to handling every dollar entrusted to us with integrity, transparency, and care. Our finances are overseen by a volunteer Finance & Administration Team, providing accountability and ensuring that no individual pastor or staff member has control over the church’s finances.

If you have any questions about giving or how our finances are handled, please email Cass at finance@firstbaptistdurango.org, and she’ll be happy to connect you with the right people. You can also find some FAQ’s at the bottom of this web page.

Thank you for trusting us and for partnering with First Baptist Durango in the work God has given us to do!

Why Give?

At FBC Durango, we see giving as a voluntary response to God’s goodness and overwhelming blessing to us. We express this gratitude by coming together to give back to God in a “generous and hilarious” manner. We have a tremendous opportunity to proclaim the gospel by giving. Giving invigorates our devotion to Christ and frees us from the chains of consumerism.

Where do the gifts go?

For some, giving to a church can feel like a significant leap of faith. Questions such as “Where does my money go?” or “Can I trust this organization?” are valid and understandable. At FBC Durango, we have implemented several safeguards to ensure accountability and transparency in all financial matters.

First, our accounting records are audited annually, and both the audit report and yearly financial statements are available upon request at any time.

Second, we maintain a robust internal system of checks and balances. In collaboration with our treasurer and office administrator, the Finance & Administration Team manages church finances with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Third, our financial records are open to review by any member, and our Finance & Administration Team is available to answer any questions regarding the church’s financial operations.

Record of Giving?

FBC Durango records all gifts given to the church and provides a detailed annual contribution statement within one month following the current giving year.
